WHY WE MOVED - THE BROWN'S STORY

Doreen Brown

As can happen so often in life, fate rather than design brought Doreen and Roger Brown to the Upperreach development on Pollard Lane in Newlay.

“I had travelled to Leeds for the weekend to look at houses as we were moving from Norwich because of my husband’s job.”

Not knowing a great deal about the city or its available housing stock, Doreen drove around keeping an eye out for opportunities. It was a journey that could so easily have ended in disappointment.

Then fate intervened.

“I spotted the yellow signs advertising the development on the road and followed them until I arrived at Upperreach.”

Once at the development, the contrast with other properties the couple had viewed was immediately obvious.

“I had viewed many properties,” said Doreen, “but none matched the tranquillity and views at Upperreach or the affordable price.”

Doreen and Roger chose a four-bedroomed town house set on three floors.

“We planned to purchase a three-bedroomed property but opted for the four-bedroomed town house so we could have one room as a study on the third floor,” said Doreen.

This self-contained third floor also boasts a TV room and bathroom, ideal for their nineteen year-old son.

Aside from the actual property, the one feature which still excites Doreen is the view from the first floor lounge overlooking the River Aire and nearby fields.

“From my balcony I look out at horses, cows, foxes, deer, squirrels and an amazing variety of birds. The river is home to ducks and swans. And Rodley Bird Sanctuary is only twenty minutes walk away along the beautiful canal.”

“Upperreach is so near to Leeds but once you drive down Pollard Lane it really is like living in the countryside.”

Now settled in, Doreen has nothing but praise for the staff from Airevale Homes.

“While we were fortunate to sell our property in Norwich, so many other things could have gone wrong. Thankfully, Mary the sales negotiator and all the staff here have been excellent.”

Prices for two-bedroom apartments start at £129,950 and 4-bedroom houses are priced from £235,000.

WHY WE MOVED - KAREN AND PAUL'S STORY

Karen Nisbet and Paul Riley enjoyed their evening strolls along the banks of the River Aire. Busy professional people, the young couple liked nothing more than riverside walks to wind down after a hard week at the office.

During these walks the couple chatted about life, love and the future – as well as keeping a close eye on the emerging new property development at Upperreach.

“Our Bramley home was ideal for commuting to Leeds city centre,” said 27 year old Karen, “but we were keen to move out of my two-bedroom semi detached and buy a house together.”

While Karen and Paul wanted a reasonable commute from a countryside location, neither expected to find it in Leeds.

“We thought it would be impossible to reconcile travel to work with a rural setting. Upperreach provided the ideal solution.”

The couple moved into their brand new 4-bedroom townhouse in September and love the lifestyle afforded by these contemporary homes.

“Upperreach is great for us,” said Karen. “We can walk or cycle along the canal and if we want to go further afield the development is on the right side of Leeds for the Dales. Better still we’ve only got a short commute into work.”

Karen and Paul purchased an Elm property type. This four-bedroom, two-bathroom property provides spacious living accommodation across three superbly designed floors. But the surprises don’t end there, as Karen discovered on the balcony leading from their living room.

“Out on the balcony you are surrounded by greenery for as far as the eye can see, and you’d never believe you were so close to the city centre.”

“We feel like we’ve found a real oasis and visitors to our new house are always surprised at the gorgeous surroundings. It’s just brilliant and we’re so glad we made the move.”

Airedale Homes have a number of deals and incentives for purchasers and will speak to genuine buyers on a one to one basis to establish what will work best for every individual.

Prices for two bedroom apartments start at £129,950 and 4-bedroom houses are priced from £235,000.
